Evaluation:
What went well:
Those of the team that participated came together well and
worked hard to meet our goals. Roles in the group were established early on and
so everyone knew what they had to do. For the most part of the sales, we were
quite busy and so ran out of stock quickly. We bought our stock fresh every
morning so they had a long shelf life and we could continue selling all day.
The group agreed on most of the ideas that came up for example; logo, team
name, the business idea and roles assigned. The initial selling of the cakes
went well, all members were friendly and we did not have any complaints about
the service or the product.
What problems did we face:
Not all members of the team took part, meaning other people
had a bigger workload. When selling, some days were busier than others, on the
days where it was quieter; we didn’t make as much profit. Also the hot weather
lead to the products to start becoming slightly stale therefore we had to lower
our prices towards the end of the day. The poor weather meant that we couldn’t
sell for as long on one of the days, so that lead to us not making as much
money as we could have.
What we would do differently next time:
We feel we may have been more successful and made more of a
profit if we had sold in school rather than on high streets. This is due to
students being more willing to buy cakes than people shopping or on their way
to work etc. We also would widen our variety of stock, for example, selling ice
poles would have been successful because of the hot weather. Also, rather than
going home after we had sold out, we could have gone and bought more stock for
later that day, which would have increased the amount of profit we made. We
could have taken more pictures of us actually selling the cakes, which we
forgot to do due to trying to set up the stall and jumping straight into
selling the cakes.
